Description

Okay, so it's NOT a real tattoo. In fact, it's drawn with blue pen onto my hand {because I got very bored}. I hope I captured his wonderful insanity :3

I wanna be a tattooist someday soon, so comments are appreciated.

The Cheshire Cat is copyright of Tim Burton, Disney, Lewis Carroll, yada yada, etc. Whatever
The drawing is copyright of me

I'm actually rather sad that I have to wash this off in a few minutes. One day I will have this tattooed onto my arm somewhere :)

Edited 1st of Jan 2012: I was just told that someone on facebook has tried to pass this off as their own work. While flattering, it's also extremely annoying. So I have watermarked it so it can not be stolen :/

As soon as I saw this piece in the "Everything Alice" group, I knew that I would love it. Considering the fact this was a truly original piece and that it clearly deserved to be critiqued, I could not resist the urge to do so. I just hope my mere words will do it justice

Vision: I gave it four stars because it was truly incredible, but not perfect because of the picture's blurriness. I also think that you could have put your hand on some sort of "background" for the cat to stand out. Perhaps something pale like cream-coloured cloth?

Originality: Five stars. There are no words to say just how awesome that idea was. I think that everyone here on DA probably remembers a time when they took a pen, as a little kid (or not so little kid ) and drew the first thing that came into mind. However, just how many people here ever spontaneously drew something this detailed and cool? Not many. Plus, I've rarely seen tattooes (real or fake) on one's hand; it's usually on the wrist, arm or something.

Technique: Four stars because it wasn't ink or a thinner pen Other than that, awesome ^^

Impact: Five stars- definitely. There is clearly nothing more to say ^^

Conclusion: As a kid I just loved the Cheshire cat and his freakish grin but was sad that the people I knew prefered the white rabbit or other characters. Which is why I was probably biaised when judging this ^^
However, I think it's safe to say that htis piece is incredible not just because of the char that was represented, but because of the very concept, technique (love the shading, btw) and its impact. If you were ever to redo this in the future, all that I would suggest would be for you to use a slightly thinner pen, a better "background" and lighting, and try to ask somebody else to take the picture for you so that it would not be as blurry.
Then you would reach perfection ^^
